From October 20 to 24, 2025, a National Training Camp for active volunteers of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan(NRCST) was held in Shabat district of Dashoguz region. The event brought together 62 volunteers from all regions of Turkmenistan. (NRCST)  staff prepared an engaging and informative training program for the participants, which included sessions on restoring family links during emergencies, the "SPHERE" project, first aid training, and psychological support in emergency situations.

One of the most memorable moments of the camp was the “Raid Cross” game, which helps participants quickly and effectively learn the basics of International Humanitarian Law (IHL). Promoting knowledge of IHL and the laws of war is one of the main priorities of the (NRCST), ensuring that people around the world are aware of and respect these rules. During the game, volunteers acted as prisoners, civilians, soldiers, and Red Cross staff, gaining a practical understanding of how humanitarian law applies in conflict situations.

As part of the camp’s continuation, the volunteers participated in joint emergency response exercises together with the Department of Emergency Situations. Divided into teams, they faced simulated crisis scenarios designed to test their coordination, preparedness, and teamwork.
The event was further enriched by the participation of Ms. Anna Berhe-Vallet, Regional Delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for Restoring Family Links, and Mr. Mikhail Rakhmanov, Head of the ICRC and RC in Turkmenistan.
The main goal of the exercises was to prepare a rapid response team capable of acting efficiently during emergencies, ensuring smooth coordination between departments, and organizing humanitarian assistance and recovery operations in affected areas. The activities were carried out in close cooperation with local authorities and organizations responsible for disaster response. Assembly points for volunteers were established, and the necessary resources and equipment were prepared.
A key highlight of the training was a simulated disaster zone exercise, where volunteers and (NRCST)  staff demonstrated excellent operational readiness, coordination, and the ability to act effectively in the field.
Professional trainers specializing in emergency response and first aid evaluated the volunteers’ performance. Each participant showed great responsibility and successfully applied their newly acquired skills. As a result, 62 active volunteers of the (NRCST)  were prepared as members of the rapid response team.
The camp also became a platform for experience exchange and cultural interaction. Each region organized its own evening program and created a Red Crescent corner reflecting its unique traditions and creativity.
For the volunteers, the camp was an unforgettable experience — they made new friends, became one united team, and returned home with renewed enthusiasm and energy. The National Camp served as a great opportunity to recognize active volunteers, strengthen their engagement in social and humanitarian work, and enhance their communication and leadership skills.
