On July 8, 2026, the city of Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan) hosted the Regional Consultative Seminar on Disaster Law, focused on the draft Regional Agreement on International Disaster Response in Central Asia. The seminar took place at the Department of Emergency Situations in cooperation with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The meeting brought together representatives from the Ministries of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, National Red Crescent Societies, and delegates from the IFRC in Central Asia.
Key discussion topics included the primary risks of transboundary emergencies within the Central Asian region, as well as cooperation mechanisms for emergency management agencies when responding to transboundary crises.
The seminar concluded with a final discussion where participants shared proposals and recommendations aimed at further refining the draft Agreement and enhancing regional cooperation.
