In September, 25 volunteers from the city and district branches of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan (NRCST) in Turkmenbashi took part in a training titled “Fundamentals of Media and Information Literacy.”

 The training was organized within the framework of the project “Development of Volunteering in Turkmenistan” and was facilitated by journalist and NRCST volunteer M. Khydyrova.

Through group discussions and interactive exercises, participants explored the key elements of media literacy. In today’s era of digital information, the ability to critically analyze different types of content, evaluate sources, and build personal opinions based on diverse information was highlighted as an essential skill, especially for young people.

 As part of the exchange visit, the project coordinator D. Gavrilova also met with volunteers and local coordinators, including J. Nuriyeva and G. Begmammedova. During the conversation, volunteers from the “Yelken” center and Turkmenbashi district shared insights into their multifaceted activities and future plans. The meeting also touched upon fundraising strategies and emphasized the importance of developing projects in areas such as social initiatives, environmental protection, and community engagement.
