On 26 November, a training seminar on communications and public relations was held in Ashgabat for the staff of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan (NRCST), as well as for representatives of mass media who regularly cover the Society’s activities. The event organized by the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Turkmenistan with the participation of Mr. Ermek Baisalov, the ICRC Regional Communication Coordinator for Central Asia.
The seminar aimed at strengthening the ST’s capacity in the field of outreach and information management, which is an essential component of effective humanitarian response. Participants reviewed key approaches to working with external audiences, methods for preparing high‑quality informational materials, and modern tools for data exchange and visual support for news.
Special attention given to content collection, improving the accuracy and timeliness of information, and upholding ethical standards when covering the activities of humanitarian organizations. During the practical session, participants completed tasks related to developing news materials, analyzing target audiences, and preparing visual content.
Speaking to the participants, Mr. Ermek Baisalov emphasized the importance of a systematic approach to communications and noted that strengthening the skills of NRCST staff in this field contributes to increased transparency, trust, and understanding of humanitarian work among the population and partners.
The seminar became another step in strengthening cooperation between the NRCST and the ICRC, as well as enhancing the professional competencies of the Society’s staff in the field of communications, enabling effective coverage of humanitarian activities.
